World Information: Hyrule is an ancient and storied land, famed both for its great beauty and for the blood which has been spilled in its name. Once the homeland of the goddess Hylia, it has long been ruled by the descendants of her mortal incarnation, Zelda of Skyloft. Hyrule is home to many races, spread out over its varied lands: the elfin Hylians in the central fields, the Gorons high in the volcanic Death Mountain, the Zora in the eastern rivers, the Kokiri in the southern forests, and the Gerudo in the desert to the west. Hyrule's final tribe, the Sheikah, is a dying race religiously dedicated to the protection of the line of Hylia.
At its current point in history, Hyrule's state is defined by the effects of two major conflicts: a great civil war, ended shortly after Zelda's birth, and the usurpation of the Hylian throne by Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo. While the latter has finally ended, thanks to the efforts of the Hero of Time, Ganondorf is still bound to a third of the powerful magical artifact known as the Triforce- and the failure to reclaim it from him before his banishment to the void is one which will bring grief to Hyrule for millennia to come.

HyrulePersonal History: Princess Zelda (Ocarina of Time)Personality: Zelda is a clever and kind soul, and as a girl proved to be both perceptive of ill-intent and capable of taking initiative when others would not heed her instincts. But when her plans to protect the Triforce backfired and ended with Ganondorf in control of both Hyrule and the Triforce of Power, Zelda's life suddenly careened down a different path than the one which might be expected of Hyrule's Crown Princess. The trauma has marked her ever since.
As a young woman Zelda is quiet, melancholic, and tends toward the introspective. She has a love of music and poetry, and besides the company of her mother-figure, Impa, her ancestral harp is one of the few pleasures she's been able to indulge. The usual hallmarks of a secure adolescence- a normal education, social interaction with others her age, and a place to call home- are a distant memory at best. Instead she has spent her life training to evade Ganondorf and assist the Hero of Time, and she is utterly dedicated to both tasks.
Fueling this dedication is both a natural sympathy for her people in their time of need, and a deep sense of guilt for her role in Ganondorf's rise to power. This self-reproach makes her harsh and unsparing in her self-criticism and desperate to rectify what she can of her mistakes. Her inability to significantly alleviate the suffering of the people of Hyrule frustrates her, although in the long run she knows that caution will serve both her and them best. If she slips in her disguise, reveals herself and allows the Triforce of Wisdom to fall into Ganondorf's hands, his capacity to project his will on the land will be all the greater.
Remembering that keeps her sane, but it's a cold sort of comfort.
Despite these experiences, Zelda retains her capacity for hope- in Link and in the ultimate resilience of the land of Hyrule- and is determined not to slip into bitterness or cynicism. Her regrets will haunt her for the rest of her life, but she does not want to succumb to them. Her people deserve better than that from her, and she does not intend to fail them so badly again.
Key themes: fate, regret, responsibility
Main Motivation: To make up for her mistakes with Ganondorf and restore the world to balance
Skills: Zelda is the Seventh Sage and bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, both of which grant her significant magical abilities. She has a particular affinity for magic using light, time travel, mental abilities, and music. She has also inherited precognition from the ancestral powers of the Royal Family, and can sometimes discern the future from prophetic dreams.
Zelda was also trained by her Sheikah attendant, Impa, and has experience with survival training and fighting in the Sheikah style. As such, she also has an alter-ego, known as Sheik, which she often uses to evade danger.
Item: The Ocarina of Time, with its time and space warping abilities appropriately depowered
